Brian Patchcoski is currently the Assistant Director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally Student Resource Center (LGBTA SRC) at The Pennsylvania State University. Originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, Brian obtained his Master’s of Education in College Student Affairs/Higher Education from The Pennsylvania State University and graduated from The University of Scranton with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Counseling/Psychology and Human Services. Through Brian’s undergraduate and graduate work, he has been involved within several of the functional areas of student affairs including student orientation, leadership initiatives, and a variety of campus programming and assessment experiences.
During his graduate tenure, Brian served as the graduate assistant for the LGBTA Student Resource Center. As the graduate assistant for the center, his primary responsibilities included the scheduling and assessment of the one of the country’s largest peer-education programs; he advised the editors of the center’s alumni newsletter (The OUTRider) and assessed the services offered through the Center at Penn State. As part of his co-curricular learning experiences within the College Student Affairs program, he interned at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center at Penn State – the largest multi-faith center in the country. Recognizing the issues LGBTQQIA individuals encounter while exploring spirituality and religion, Brian continues to support and provide resources for students wishing to explore these particular aspects of their identities intersected with their sexual and/or gender identities.
As the Assistant Director of the Center, Brian is primarily responsible for the programming offered to the University community – inclusive of National Coming Out Week (NCOD/W), Pride Week, the LGBTA Lecture Series, etc. He advises student interns, various student groups, facilitates discussion groups, and works with students one-on-one as they explore who they are relative to their identities.
Brian currently serves as the Mid-Atlantic Representative for the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals for over the last two years.
